Motovun

Motovun

If you want to spend your holidays in a quiet and romantic medieval town and enjoy traditional food and premium quality wines in numerous restaurants, wine cellars and konobas Motovun is the best place for you. On the other hand, for those who prefer sport and recreation to hedonism Motovun and its surrounding offer a wide range of activities.

In the heart of the Istrian peninsula lies one of the most beautiful and quaint little towns… Motovun. From its location on the top of a hill, you will see a magnificent view of the Mirna River Valley, vast rows of vineyards, and the famous Motovun forest, rich in the widely renowned white truffles.

Due to its location, hardworking and hospitable people, mild climate and unforgettable Istrian landscape, Motovun is a town worth coming back to because of its magical attraction – you are allowed to be enchanted.

The layout of the town is oval in shape, and you will find well preserved city walls dating from the Middle Ages, the city palace, the town lodges, and the parish church of St. Stephen.

Strolling down the cobble stoned streets, your mind takes you back to the days of the Middle Ages, the Renaissance and Baroque period of history. Many of the buildings and palaces bear familial coats of arms.

Many artists have found their inspiration in Motovun where for centuries people have been retelling fairy tales, stories and legends of giants and fairies, which are still believed to visit this mystical hill.

According to recent data Motovun is situated at the crossroads of the so called “Dragon’s furrows”, earth’s meridians which are said to have a soothing and relaxing effect and encourage creativity and enhance meditation.

Well-known citizens of Motovun were Andrea Antico, a famous Renaissance composer, Josef Ressel, the inventor of the ship screw, Mario Andretti, the legendary race car driver and the Formula 1 world champion in 1978 as well as the winner of the “Indianapolis 500″.

For a larger number of people, up to three (3) families, we offer our LARGE house which can accommodate up to ten (10) people. The house is 50 steps away from the town centre but, just like our Small house, still in a peaceful and quiet street. A larger number of people can enjoy the full comfort of the house due to the fact that there are three ( 3) bedrooms and three (3) bathrooms, each having its own shower and toilet. All rooms have air-conditioning. The back terrace with the fire place is ideal for spending time together or basking in the sun.

On the very top of the Motovun hill, almost in the center of the town, there is Motovunhouse, a town house built in 1761. Located in the peaceful and romantic part of the town, it has been entirely refurbished to accommodate ten people.

When you enter the ground floor from the front terrace, you will find a spacious dining room and a fully equipped kitchen.

Opet mi je boravak u Motovunu bio divno iskustvo. To je mjesto gdje se možemo opustiti i osjećati kao kod kuće. Očekujte me opet.
Puno vam hvala na gostoprimstvu. Nadam se da ću Vam moći uzvratiti u Sarajevu.
Mak, Bosna i Hercegovina
Lijepo je vratiti se u ovu oazu romantike, dobrog raspoloženja i pozitivnih vibracija.
Iz ove, motovunske perspektive, sve izgleda, nekako pobojano ružičasto.
Kuća je stvarno super.
Vanja, Hrvatska
